Step 1:
EDIT FLASH ANIMATION: | Click for more details
Open the "flash.txt" in Notepad or any text editor and edit "Your Website Title" with your name or company name. Be sure not to delete the "logo=". Then change "Edit with your optional slogan or phrase" with your slogan. Be sure not to delete the "&slogan=". This will update the Flash logo on all pages. If you wish to use a graphic logo, there are instructions later in this document.

THE FLASH IMAGE CHANGER: | Click for more details
This changer is showing 8 .jpg images. You will find these images in the "flash" folder. You can simply replace "image1.jpg" through "image8.jpg" with any standard .jpg images and the flash will update. Make your images 150 wide x 125 high pixels in size. Edit the sidebar.js to change the changer size. You can make this higher but not wider.

Step 2:
EDIT COPYRIGHT: | Click for more details
Open the "copyright.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and change the "Your Company" text with your information. This will change the footer info on all pages.

Step 3:
EDIT CONTACT INFO: | Click for more details
Open the "phone.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and change the company name, address, phone number and e-mail address. This will change contact info on the "contact" page.

Step 4:
EDIT THE CONTACT FORM:

Click for current info on setting up the template forms.

Click for info on adding more fields to the forms.

Click for changing form sizes or colors.

If you want to use only e-mail on the contact page you can remove the contact form by deleting between the "REMOVE FORM" notes in the "contact.htm".

Step 5:
REPLACE THE GALLERY PICTURES: | Click for more details
The best way to setup the pictures in the gallery is not to actually edit the HTML pages and change the pictures on each individual page. The fastest way is to simply replace the pictures in the "gallery" folder with your own by overwriting the files that are in there now and using the same generic names.

In the "gallery" folder, replace the 36 "Fgallery" pictures with full size photos. Replace the 36 "gallery" pictures with your thumbnails. The thumbnails are now 100 x 67 pixels and the Fgallery images are 650 x 433, but you can make them any size that you prefer. There is info on the other pictures in this template later in this document.

IMAGE VIEWER OPTIONS: | Click for more details
You can change some options for the gallery image viewer page (image-viewer.htm) by editing the pop-closeup.js in Notepad.

Step 6:
EDIT SIDEBAR: | Click for more details
Open the "sidebar.js" file in Notepad or any text editor, and edit the text and links with your own text. You will also find some options you can change at the top of this file. Editing the sidebar.js will update the right side of all the template pages, except the gallery pages, at one time. Example: In the sidebar.js find the "1ST NOTES AREA" and edit the "Notes Area" line with your sidebar title text. Edit the "You can edit this area..." text with your own text. Try this update and check the about.htm to see this updated.

The date shown at the top of all pages can be moved or turned off in the sidebar.js. The date font can be changed in the CSS file.

Step 7:
EDIT PAGES: | Software choices | Notepad Editing
Edit the text on all pages with your website information. You can use EW, Frontpage, Dreamweaver, GoLive, any wysiwyg HTML editor or a text editor like Notepad. Take care not to delete any of the HTML tags that surround the text.

Step 8:
EDIT TITLES, DESCRIPTIONS AND KEYWORDS: | Click for more details
Open each of the HTML pages and change the titles (at the very top of the page) and also the description and the keywords with your product or service info. You can edit one page and copy and paste to the other pages. Be careful to only change what's inside the "" so you don't disturb the html code. Page titles are important so your site will get a good listing at Google or MSN and other search engines. Click for optimization help.

Step 9:
UPLOAD: | Click for more details
Upload the pages on to your hosting company's server using ftp software or Windows Explorer or your control panel. Be sure to upload the "picts" and "flash" and "gallery" folders and all files in these folders.

Options:

USING A GRAPHIC LOGO:
You can replace the Flash logo with a graphic one. To do this, delete or rename the header.js, then rename the "graphic_logo_header.js" to "header.js". In the picts folder you will find a graphic called "logo.jpg", open this graphic and edit it with your logo. This image is now 80 pixels in height but you can make this any size you would like.

EDITING THE IMAGE VIEWER:
You can edit the text in the "image-viewer.htm". This is not unique text for each image, however, you could setup unique text in each gallery for the viewer. Here are the steps:
  1. Make a copy of the "image-viewer.htm". Name it "image-viewer-2.htm".
  2. Make a copy of the "pop-closeup.js". Name it "pop-closeup-2.js".
  3. Change the viewer link in the new "pop-closeup-2.js" to "image-viewer-2.htm" in 3 places.
  4. Edit the "pop-closeup.js" call at the top of your gallery page that is using a different viewer to "pop-closeup-2.js".
SETTING UP THE SLIDESHOW PICTURES: | Click for more details
The slideshow is currently setup to display all pictures in the gallery folder. If you would like to add or remove pictures from the slideshow, open the slideshow.htm in Notepad and look for the "EDIT THIS AREA" note. Copy and paste to add new pictures to the list, or delete lines to remove pictures. You can also set the AutoPlay speed. Look for "var rotate_delay = 3000".

SITE MAP PAGE:
The "site_map.htm" is linked from the index.html. It is best not to remove this link so search engines can find your site map and properly list all your pages when users search at major search engines.

PAYPAL SETUP
SETTING UP FOR SINGLE ITEM PURCHASING: | Click for more details
The order.htm page links to Paypal so visitors can purchase items. Visitors or clients will be able to purchase a single item from you at a time. Paypal does offer code for a shopping cart setup if you want to change from single order to a shopping cart. Check your Paypal account in the developers area for help and code.
STEP 1: Set up a Paypal merchant account. You will use your Paypal e-mail to setup the template forms.

STEP 2: Edit the order page and replace the "form" info with your new Paypal "form" info. You will be replacing the "your@email.com" the price and the item name. There is a thank you page included.

IF YOU ARE NOT USING THE ORDER FORMS:
If you will not be using the Paypal order forms you can rename or delete the "order.htm" and then rename the "NO-FORMS-order.htm" to "order.htm" and you will then have a resource page instead. You can then edit the menu.js in notepad and change the "order" link button text to whatever you would prefer.

FONTS: | Click for more details
You can change your font colors and sizes by editing the "coolstyle.css" with a text editor. You can find other font colors by clicking here. You can also change the font sizes in the "coolstyle.css" file. Change the "TABLE" px size to change the copy on all pages. Change the "subtitle" px size to change all the subtitle sizes.

CHANGING / ADDING MENU BUTTONS: | Click for more details
You can change the names on the buttons like "About" or "Services" to other page names by editing the "menu.js". Only change the one instance of the name and not the name with the ".htm" after it. Whatever you change in the menu.js will change every page on the website. Keep the names short so they don't go outside the menu. You can even add more pages but copying one button in the menu.js and pasting it right below the next. Be sure to back up your file before you edit it.

You can also edit the gallery navigation bar:
image
Open the "gallery_nav.js" file in Notepad and copy and paste to add more galleries to the navigation.

PICTURES: | Click for more details
You can replace the pictures with your own. You can use any size picture you want and the pages will size them to fit automatically. Each page has it's own picture which is named according to the page it's on. You will find all pictures in the "picts" folder. Main page images are now 250 x 320 pixels.

ADDING PAGES: | Click for more details | Add a Gallery
You can add pages to your website by copying and pasting any one of the pages and renaming it to whatever you need. You can then add links for the new pages to the menu by opening the menu.js. See adding to the menu above.
